March 2018
As I continue to thematically explore the Divine Feminine and Goddess energies in my work - I've been stretching to challenge myself towards expanding subtle ideas. With the idea in mind of photographing a spiritual sister, Oge in nature; I enlisted my stylist and friend, Dominique Dawson to pull light reflecting garments that were fluid like water and inspired afro-futurism in an organic earthy way. My aim was to kindly depart from my typical methodology of loosely planned, fiercely solo and guerilla style approach - generally armed only with a plethora of objects and thrifted clothes jumbled in a bag.
The location: Bronson Canyon a.k.a. The Bat Cave was suggested to me by Jessie, dear friend and talented photographer. So, on a chilly yet sunny afternoon Oge, Dom and I set out on a small hike towards the cave. The landscape is stunning and we were immediately inspired. There's always magic that comes as I chase the light and get into a creative flow. As my muse moved in the sun clothed in splendor I could feel her flesh fading away while her soul danced.
